Telehealth Psychiatry for Darwin

PsycheTel Australia provides specialist psychiatric care to people across Darwin and the Northern Territory by secure telehealth. You connect with an AHPRA-registered consultant psychiatrist by video from home, so there is no travel and no waiting room. Please note that PsycheTel is a telehealth service and does not operate a physical clinic in Darwin. Our telepsychiatry care reaches you wherever you are in the Territory.

Why Telehealth Psychiatry
Works for Darwin and the NT

The Northern Territory has some of the most limited access to psychiatry in the country, and enormous distances between communities. For many Territorians, being seen by a private psychiatrist has meant travelling to Darwin or interstate, which is costly, slow, and often simply not possible. Telehealth removes that barrier by bringing the specialist to you, wherever you are.

This is significant across the whole Territory, from Darwin and Palmerston to Katherine, Alice Springs, and remote communities where a local psychiatrist may be hundreds of kilometres away. Secure video consultations allow people to access consistent specialist care without leaving their community.

Areas we serve across
Darwin and the NT

Because our care is delivered by telehealth, we support people right across greater Darwin, including the CBD, the northern suburbs and Casuarina, and Palmerston. We also reach people across the wider Northern Territory, including Katherine, Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Nhulunbuy, and remote and regional communities across the Top End and Central Australia.

Conditions We Assess and Treat

Our consultant psychiatrists provide assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management for a range of conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. We also offer confidential support for healthcare workers and first responders. Darwin has a significant Defence presence, and several of our psychiatrists have particular experience supporting veterans and first responders. You can explore each of our services on our services pages.

Medicare and referrals

A valid referral from your GP or another specialist is required to claim a Medicare rebate for a psychiatry consultation. If you have a regular GP in Darwin, they can provide this and share useful background information. If you are not sure how to start, our team can guide you and your GP through the referral process.

Mental Health Care
in Your Language

Brisbane is one of Australia’s most culturally diverse cities. Several of our psychiatrists consult in languages other than English, including Urdu, Hindi, Tamil, and Romanian, so you can talk about your mental health in the language you feel most comfortable using. If you would like to speak with a psychiatrist in a particular language, let our team know when you get in touch.
